Race cars use high-octane race fuel. Jet airplanes use extremely high-octane jet fuel. If fuel is fuel, is it all the same? The answer is no! There are different grades, octanes, and additives.

Our bodies are like cars. They run on fuel. The type of fuel that we choose to put into our bodies will directly influence our bodies performance immediately, down the road, and when or if we cross the finish line. The Standard American Diet (S.A.D.) really is a sad diet. We've moved away from farm fresh, free range, unpasteurized, all-natural, and organic to mass produced, hormone filled, antibiotic injected, caged and trapped, pasteurized, homogenized, sugar-filled, hydrogenated, processed, preserved, and looks fresh but doesn't taste it food. Fast food has taken over and now one out of every four people in the U.S. is considered obese.

Most gas stations don't carry the high-octane racing fuel that high performance racing machines need. You have to buy this specialized fuel at specific locations. Similarly, many grocery stores and fast food resturants don't carry the highest quality fuel that our bodies require for optimal functioning. We have to be extremely selective with what we put into our bodies if we want them to perform at a higher level than they have in the past.

Food is energy- plain and simple! It requires more energy from our body to digest dead and devitalized food than we actually get from it. If we eat enough dead and devitalized food we create an energy deficit within our body and then we wonder why our body breaks down.

I consider myself a Selectarian. This means that I intelligently select those foods that I put into my body according to what my body is telling me at that particular moment. If I honestly know that my body will not feel any better, or more healthy and alive, by eating a particular food, I don't eat it.

Emotional eating is a different story. Many people eat, overeat, or binge because of their current internal emotional state. The stress and anxiety that these emotions create inside of them forces them to seek relief through food-which helps them to cope, to supress these emotions temporarily. This requires no intelligence at all and is a very primitive coping mechanism. Emotional eating will not help you feel more healthy and alive! In this case it is extremely important to address those internal emotions that are creating excessive stress and anxiety so that desires to suppress can disippate.

80% of our diets should consist of foods that have a high water content. Bottom line is to eat lots of fresh, vine-ripened, organic, whole, non-processed, raw or lightly cooked fruits, vegetables, legumes, sprouts, and nuts. Limit the intake of animal products. And drink lots of high-quality, purified H2O.
